InBev UK launches Eiken Artois
InBev UK have unveiled an innovative oak-aged brew – Eiken Artois – a deliciously refreshing, full-flavoured draught lager which is 4.6% ABV.
Eiken Artois is brewed in Belgium to an original continental recipe using carefully selected aroma hops and harnessing a new oak-aged maturation technique to produce a distinctively different style of lager that will prove popular with drinkers. |
InBev has developed its own special oak-ageing technology with the beer being exposed to oak during the maturation process to impart a unique flavour. This also gives the brand its unusual name because Eiken is Flemish for 'from oak'. Steve Kitching, Managing Director, Commercial and Field Operations at InBev UK, says: 'This distinctive new brand will help drive value into the lager market by encouraging more pub-goers to trade up.
'It is an accessible brand that is less challenging than other premium styles such as speciality beer and so can open premium lager up to a wider drinking audience.
'The use of oak ageing – something that is relatively new for lager brewing but is well established in wine-making – brings complexity through its depth of flavours rather than bitterness and that will attract both men and women to the brand.' |
Eiken Artois is dispensed in the Artois Chalice glass which keeps the beer 23% colder than other pint glasses after ten minutes, enhancing the drinking experience. The glass was specifically developed to complement the Artois beers and is made from toughened glass, shaped to retain the flavour of the beer and deliver just the right amount of head. Eiken Artois is available to selected retailers nationally in 30 litre kegs and it replaces Artois Bock in the Artois family.
