Ruislip Nursing Home - Long-Term Savings

Ruislip Nursing Home is a privately run twenty-four bedded nursing care facility with a special emphasis on creating a 'home' in the true sense of the word. Situated in a residential area of Ruislip, Middlesex, the Home cares for elderly individuals who are over sixty five years old and frail.

Ruislip Nursing Home, operating under two separate management teams, has been benefiting from ipa membership for a number of years.

Initial Savings

The previous management team were first introduced to ipa through a recommendation from the RNHA in 2001. ipa was delighted to be able to offer support to the Home and subsequently arranged for food and dairy accounts to be opened under ipa's pricing agreements. Happy with the service and pricing, ipa was also asked to provide quotes for the Home's gas supply and again, significant savings were achieved.

Ongoing Support

ipa has always offered ongoing support to Ruislip Nursing Home in the form of regular customer service calls. This is an ideal opportunity for the Home's management to highlight any supplier issues but also to obtain quotations for other products the Home requires. For example, after being asked to obtain an alternative quote for new curtains for the Home, ipa recommended Gradus Fabrics who provided a very competitive proposal. The member was quick to place an order and was delighted with the end result.

A New Dairy Service

Following a change in management at Ruislip Nursing Home, ipa was asked to review the dairy provision as this is one of the key spend areas for the Home. ipa conducted a detailed price benchmarking analysis comparing the Home's current invoice charges to a selection of ipa nominated suppliers. This analysis found that cost savings were achievable by switching to ipa's negotiated prices with Dairy Crest, saving the Home approximately £300-£400 every year. Ruislip Nursing Home also regularly orders staff uniforms from Alexandra using ipa's negotiated prices.

Update: In the last few days, ipa has been asked to provide new quotes for the Home's gas supply. ipa's nominated energy broker, Finesse, are now analysing the market to negotiate the best deal possible for the Home.
